The handwritten note at the top reads:
“This is Galmpton shipyard as older people remember it. Always a hive of industry building fishing trawlers for Brixham, Ramsgate and Lowestoft and during the second world war, building MGBs and MTBs but sadly now to be pulled down. I worked here as a journeyman shipwright from 1921 to 1926. During that time I helped build the Provident. It always has been dirty here but money has been clean.”
